Magnetic Island Activities

Magnetic Island, Australia is located in the centre of the Great Barrier Reef. It comes as no surprise then that reef and water are the heart of Magnetic Island activities.

Snorkelling and diving around the island is superb, with the wreck of the Yongala listed as one of the top 5 wreck dives in the world. Even beginners can explore coral gardens in Florence Bay and Arthur Bay.

Fishing - from jetties, rocks and piers is a favourite local pass-time. Of course, you could always try one of the many reef and fishing trips exploring the outer reef that leave daily from Horseshoe Bay.

Horseshoe Bay is the hub of Magnetic Island's love affair with water. From here you can enjoy parasailing, hire a catamaran or jet-ski, try a sail board or just enjoy beach horse riding at sunset.

But there is more to life on Magnetic Island, Queensland than the ocean!

Bush walking through unspoilt hoop pines and eucalypt forests, while observing friendly rock wallabies and koalas in their native habitat is a memory that will last a lifetime.

Most of the resorts boast tennis courts and pools. The Country Club at Picnic Bay has a great golf course. It must be something special as history tells that the Country Club was where a young Greg Norman played his first ever game of golf!

In fact, there is so much to see and do that Magnetic Island weddings, where the couple and their friends combine their happy day with a holiday are becoming very popular in Australia.
